The Zimbabwean judge, Justice Charles Hungwe whose contract had ended a month has returned to continue hearing high profile cases of treason, murder and attempted murder.

The high profile cases that Hungwe is hearing include the case in which former Lesotho Defence force army commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli is accused of murder and attempted murder and other soldiers.

Justice Hungwe’s contract had ended a month ago told the court that issues concerning his contract are administrative and will not be discussing them in court.

This, Hungwe said in court yesterday when addressing Advocate Mohau who was inquiring about his position since his contract ended in October.

Hungwe was according to Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane no longer going to continue with the cases he was allocated as his contract had come to an end on the 30th October.

However, a week later, after having announced that he will no longer be working on the cases, Hungwe was on Monday presiding over the case in which former army commander Tlali Kamoli and four others are accused of bombings that occurred at Ha Abia and Moshoeshoe 2 in January 2014.

Advocate Mohau said he wanted to know Hungwe’s position in the cases so as to be sure of what to expect, however Hungwe said he will not be discussing such issues as they are to be addressed by the Judicial Service Commission.
