Women led households in the Maseru City are seemingly targets of a series of petty crime in and around Maseru where their cars while parked at homes have been broken into with valuables stolen.
Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said yesterday that thieves seem to be targeting valuables left in vehicles by women to sell for quick cash.
This Mopeli says comes as Lesotho clocks six (6) Days into the extended 14 days of COVID-19 lockdown.
Mopeli warned that people, especially women, must stay vigilant at all times and ensure that all valuables are collected from their cars in order to keep away thieves from breaking into their cars in the night.
He explained that to gain entry into their victims’ cars, the thieves break the driver’s window to open doors then search for anything useful.
“Most people are not aware until the morning when they have to drive out that their cars have been broken into.
“We urge all to keep and eye out and inform the police as soon as they hear or see anything unusual,” said the police spokesperson.
