Setsoto Stadium is listed among 19 other stadiums on the African Continent that the Confederation of African Football has condemned for not being meeting standards to host FIFA qualifier games.

But, amid the country having been knocked out of the FIFA qualifier games by Ethiopia, Lesotho football association (LeFA) Secretary general Mokhosi Mohapi said mention of Setsoto among banned stadiums is confusing as the team will not be playing any games.

But, KDNews has learned that of the twenty countries whose stadiums have been condemned for not meeting minimum accreditation requirements, only eight are still participating in the 2022 Fifa world cup games currently.

Mohapi said the notice listing names of stadiums not to be used was sent to those member associations who have qualified to the 2022 FIFA world cup qualifiers of which Likuena is not part.

Amid describing the ban as confusing, Mohapi said it also serves as a “a wake-up call that those responsible for infrastructural development should start as early as now with the African Union games for region 5 to be held in Lesotho by December”.
