Ruling party rebels and Opposition condemn trigger happy police

All Basotho Convention rebellious legislators’ faction and Opposition yesterday gathered to condemn the shooting of youth protestors who were en route to petition parliament over unemployment.
The ABC MPs were joined by the Alliance of Democrats, Lesotho Congress for Democracy, Democratic Party of Lesotho members of parliament in rebuking Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro’s government and police use of excessive force on youths who were voicing their concerns to parliament last week Friday.
The MPs noted the youths were protesting without a permit to do so but however rebuked what they explained as abuse on the youths whom they said were exercising their freedom of expression with a peaceful march.
“The youths were peacefully protesting and voicing their concerns to a right and safe space, parliament; after failing to get a permit for the strike from the police,” said the LCD parliamentary caucus secretary, Thato Ntsibulane.
Ntsibolane also added the police Minister, Mamoipone Senauoane is trying by all means to hide that attempts were made to obtain the permit.
Among the ABC MPs present at the gathering were former Water Minister Samonyane Ntsekele, Suspended ABC deputy chairperson Chalane Phori, Lithoteng constituency MP and former police minister Lehlohonolo Moramotse, Mafeteng constituency legislator Temeki Tsolo, a former minister in the Prime Minister Office Leshoboro Mohlajoa.
Phori, said before being a part of the Prime Minister Majoro led government or the ABC he is a representative of the interest of the people of Qoaling regardless of their political affiliations hence his interest in the welfare of the youths.
