The Road Transport Board taxi fares of 30 percent for local and 21.1 percent for long-distance price hike will this Friday come into force.
Road Transport Board Chairperson Limema Phohlo said after research conducted by the specialists within the Board they decided to increase the fares.
Phohlo said this was made after a plea by taxi operators that fares should be increased owing to incessant fuel increases which left operators’ businesses in much distress.
The Board said that the 30 percent taxi fare hike for locals will translate to M12.00 for 4+1, M11.00 for Minibusses, M8.00 for Sprinters, and M7.00 for Buses while the 21.1 percent increment for long-distance, prices will be determined by routes distances.
