Police and Public Safety Minister ‘Mamoipone Senauoane police officers will be visible in large numbers to enforce Covid-19 restrictions imposed to mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Senauoana said owing to the rapid increase in numbers of COVID-19 positive cases, the Prime Minister took measures on trying to curb the spread of the virus and imposed a stricter lockdown.

Senauoane announced that members of the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) will come out to see everyone is adhering to Orange Covid-19 restrictions across the country.

“We are all witnesses that the virus is taking a lot of Basotho lives and seem to spread country-wide,” Senaouoana said.

She said it is every persons’ responsibility to see that the spread of the virus decreases.

Senauoane said no one is expected to be out in the streets between 8 pm and 5 am and to pay attention to detail regarding level orange precautions including wearing masks and avoiding swarming places.

Senauoane added that since the schools were closed, no one is expected to go to school until an announcement is made and added there will be harsh consequences for those who will contravene the covid-19 restrictions.

She said that prevention is better than cure hence everyone should take care of themselves.
