Alliance of Democrats (AD) Deputy Leader Professor Ntoi Rapapa has denied allegations that he is leading a faction vying for his party founding leader and former prime minister Monyane Moleleki’s ouster.
Rapapa yesterday, addressing a press briefing at the party’s offices assured party members that he fully supports Moleleki as his leader.
He said he will by no means be part of a faction with an intention to depose Moleleki.
He disputed saying “it’s a pure lie”.
Rapapa further adds it has come to his attention that there are detractors that want to spread confusion in the party.
He said these rouble rousers are aware of the stability, unity and rapid growth of the party adding these are spread by people who do not belong to the party, people whom he said have left AD as well as those who do not want to see its success.
Rapapa also adds that it is very clear in the party’s constitution on leadership that a leader can stay in office for 2 terms.
He said Moleleki is only on his first term as the party leader until 2023.
Rapapa also stressed that the succession of leadership will only be decided and done in a proper way by AD members and not through a coup against Moleleki orchestrated by AD’s enemies.
Rapapa emphasized that the ways and cultures are seen in other parties where leaders are replaced through internecine fighting for leadership that separates the leader with his deputy is not how AD works.
Furthermore, Rapapa urged AD members to watch out for enemies that are hungry to spread confusion and sow divisions between the leader and his deputy.
