A Masemouse Primary School principal aged 45 in Mpharane, in the district of Mohales’s Hoek, was on Saturday April 25, apprehended by police for the alleged murder of his 33-year-old wife.
Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, said on Friday, April 24 in early twilight hours around 8pm, the suspect and the deceased were coming from another woman’s house in the village, who is said to be aged 44 where they had been drinking alcoholic beverages.
“The suspect is alleged to have warned the deceased that she has consumed too much alcohol.
“When they got home, that is where an argument took a surprising turn whereby the suspect assaulted the wife causing her bodily injuries that later led to her death with a stick. However, the couple, after their fight went to sleep amid the assault” Mopeli said.
Mopeli further adds that in the morning, the deceased reportedly told the suspect that her body is painful and the man did not care.
On the same morning, Mopeli said the wife succumbed to her injuries.
“The suspect is a deputy principal at the Masemousu Primary School and he even handed the weapon used in this fateful incident to police,” Mopeli said.
