Lesotho police staff association (Leposa) defies police commissioner Holomo Molibeli expulsion of Constable Motlatsi Mofokeng and argues the dismissal lacks fairness in law.

In its statement, Leposa said all its regional and district committees and the entire members of LEPOSA there is a purported dismissal of spokesperson Mofokeng under section 31 of the police service act of 1998.

Leposa said it is not in contestation with powers of the commissioner of police to remove officers but they remain poised that the purported dismissal of Mofokeng lacks fairness in law and otherwise.

Leposa further said the dismissal does not immediately affect Mofokeng’s position as public relations officer of the association.

Mofokeng remains exiled after fleeing on March after barely escaping arrest.

Mofokeng had said he feared being tortured or even getting killed.
