COVID-19 regulations violator faces the law

A 27-year-old mini-bus driver was found guilty of contravening the Public Health COVID-19 regulations of 2020 after being found driving without a permit and ferrying passengers exceeding set public transport limit.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said Thabo Rantlo of Mauteng was driving from Morija to Maseru City when he was arrested for violating section 4 (2) of the COVID-19 regulations.
Mopeli said section 4 (2) of the regulations reads: “a person in control of a vehicle exempted under sub regulations shall ensure that in case of a 15-seater taxi, the vehicle must carry 9 passengers,” and added Rantlo exceeded the limits and had no permit.
“He appeared before the Magistrate court on April 21 2020 and was sentenced to 5 months in prison or pay a M500.00 fine which he paid and was released,” Mopeli stated.
