Ministry of Communications, Science Technology Principal Secretary Tankiso Phapano’s employment been terminated by Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro for undisclosed reasons.
Phapano yesterday received a letter from Government Secretary Lerotholi Pheko directing him to “proceed on leave, effective from today, 1st June 2021 with full benefits accruing to your position as Principal Secretary until an agreement has been reached”.
In the letter, Pheko reminded Phapano of a meeting he had informed the Principal Secretary of the “intention of the Right Honourable the Prime Minister to terminate your employment as Principal Secretary”.
Pheko also noted Phapano had responded following the meeting with a letter dated May 31 accepting to get into negotiations for his exit.
Pheko directed Phapano to hand over the administration of the Office tot his deputy for the day-to-day operations of the ministry in his absence.
Attempts to get comment from Phapano were fruitless until the time of publication.
