Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane has this morning issued a warrant of Arrest for the Lesotho Congress for Democracy leader, former Deputy Prime Minister Mothetjoa Metsing.
Metsing and Movement for Economic Change leader, Minister of Development Planning Selibe Mochoboroane were today expected to appear before the High Court to be enjoined on the treason, murder and attempted murder trial of the incidents of August 30 2014.
The duo is now enjoined to Former Lesotho Defence Force Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli and other soldiers after the Constitutional Court ruled that they be joined for their role in the treasenous act if August 2014.
When the accused all had their indictments read to them, the Court was made aware that Metsing is not before court by his defense counsel Advocate Motiea Teele King’s counsel.
Teele told the Court that he had a conversation with his client Metsing, and agreed that they will be before court but he was in disarray to realise that the he did not show up.
Judge Sakoane, in response to the news about Metsing’s failure to appear before court ordered that a Warrant of Arrest be issues and he be served wherever he is promptly.
Sakoane before ordering the issuance of a warrant of Arrest for the former Deputy prime Minister said his failure to show up was despite the fact that he was issued a notice of trial and together with an indictment.
Sakoane said Metsing had known that he was supposed to be before court as the court had been told by Teele and there was no reason for his failure to show up.
