Rose Ralekuku, suspected to have smuggled alcohol into prison for her pal, ex-first lady ‘Maesaiah Thabane, was granted free bail by Magistrate Court today.
She is accused of conveying alcoholic drinks into prison on two occasions to quench the fiery thirst of Mrs Thabane who was incarcerated for alleged murder of her husband’s second wife, Lipolele Thabane.
According to the charges, Ralekuku breached Lesotho Correctional Service Act No.3 by “having unlawfully and willingly brought alcohol for the then detained Thabane on June 28 and also attempting to sneak in more alcohol on June 29”.
Magistrate Masupha Kao granted her free bail for being cooperative with the authorities, among other reasons.
Her bail conditions include being present on dates of her remands and also not to interfere with crown witnesses.
Represented by advocate Lepeli Molapo, Ralekuku is to appear for a remand on August 3, 2020.
