…as MPs file a new motion for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister
By Staff Reporter
Opposition legislators Tefo Mapesela and Kose Makoa have filed a new motion for a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro led coalition government in a bid for his ouster.
Mapesela, leader of Basotho Patriotic Party (BPP) is in the motion seconded by Makoa and they are both seeking the National Assembly to urge “His Majesty the King to appoint Hon Nkaku Kabi MP and the Leader of ABC [All Basotho Convention] and member for Qeme constituency No 43 in the place of the Prime Minister”.
The notice of motion paper dated March 2nd follows a heated argument in the National Assembly on whether the ABC must cross the floor to the opposition if it withdraws itself from governing coalition government or its Members of Parliament names must be announced in order to show its withdrawal from the ruling coalition government.
It is not clear when the house will deal with the motion for a vote of no confidence but expectations are that the motion could be the first thing that the house is forced to deal with immediately when it reconvenes tomorrow.
