Lesotho’s Prime Minister Thomas Thabane announced an extension of national lockdown from 22 April to 5 May 2020 to contain spread of Covid-19.
Thabane said Lesotho is considered fortunate and blessed for being a country with no recorded cases of this deadly virus which has paralysed the entire world.
In his official statement today, he said during the extended 14 days of lockdown, Ministry of Health will seriously work on state of case management by building robust health centres, well furnished with specialised equipment such as oxygen ventilators, patient monitors and personal protective equipment.
During these 14 days, Thabane added government will complete recruitment of specialised doctors intended to fill the gaps, screen and test high risk population areas, and enhance working relations between the central government and local authorities for dissemination of information and educational materials.
